Sadly the eagle eyed amongst you will notice that the roof doesn’t sit down right at one end. That’s despite lots of work making them fit in the first place. I only noticed it once I had glued the roof on so it will need to be filled. Not the end of the world but a little frustrating.

I had a bit of a Doh! moment when ordering the transfers for the CCT in that I did plan any for the Parcels van. I am very grateful to Warren for coming to my rescue with these.

Ex NBR Bogie CCT – The Last Lap

Well the end is in sight and this one is almost ready for the small adds.

The only thing that’s left (unless I discover something else) is to glue to roof on.

And finally a close up of the transfers that I had commissioned from Precision Labels (I took the opportunity to get a second set LNER set at the same time for the one that I plan to build for me.

Kirk 51Foot Parcels van – final detailing.

The weekend’s endeavours also saw the Parcels van heading towards the finish line.

It now sport’s glazing, guards grab handrails and T handles. Still to add are the luggage door handles, vacuum and steam pipes and transfers (I think) plus tidy up the paintwork and matt varnish.

Note to self: clean of all the plastic dust from drilling out handrails etc. before taking more photos…..

Ex NBR CCT, almost the final chapter (I hope)

Another weekend and a couple of hours, on a couple of evenings, has seen the NBR CCT almost finished. In terms of detailing that is – I need one more steam heat pipe for one end. All that’s left is more paint and transfers. Then glazing and fit the roof which is just placed on for the photos

Scratch built Luggage Door Handles

Still working on the small details for the Kirk brake and the bogie CCT.

Last night saw the fabrication of handles for the luggage doors. – sadly no invisible solder in this house.

These are copies of a very nice casting that I found in my spares box – of which I only had one and no idea of where it came from originally.

More on the Ex NBR CCT

Further progress on the detailing of the NBR CCT ensued this weekend.
Not the best couple of photo’s in the world but they show what’s been done.
Steps fitted
Brake handwheels and mounting blocks
Brake cylinder crank
Vacuum/steam heat pipe (I am not 100% sure which it is) and yes it is so wavy in the photo that I used in Historic Carriage Drawings Vol3 NPCS.

Next up is a rummage in my spares box to see what I have in the way of grab and Tee handles.
