{"id":7172,"date":"2025-08-12T10:03:41","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T09:03:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.railway-models-and-art.co.uk\/blog\/?p=7172"},"modified":"2025-08-12T10:03:41","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T09:03:41","slug":"tapping-guide-in-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.railway-models-and-art.co.uk\/blog\/?p=7172","title":{"rendered":"Tapping Guide in Action"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Back in June last year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railway-models-and-art.co.uk\/blog\/?p=6691\">(Here)<\/a> after some discussion on the Guild forum about tapping guides I made one but since then I haven&#8217;t had a circumstance where I might actually use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday while doing a little job I needed to tap a 12ba thread in two sides of U shaped pieces. By gripping them (they are rather small and fiddly) in an engineers clamp I was able to rest the guide on the flat side of the clamp and use my shop made tap spinners to tap the holes.
